Winds and cloud are from Yemen
That 'poor' rated Tropical Disturbance in the North Indian ocean decided to turn into a weak Tropical Cyclone after all, and is now causing the beautiful clouds we're seeing in Muscat, and the mild rains in Salalah.
It will hit landfall in Yemen, thankfully.
It is NOT another Gonu.

I was in Abu Dhabi today and we've been seeing clouds here too.
ReplyDeleteThose are great graphics of expected trajectories. What's their source?
Hi. Do you have access to census data? I am doing research on Oman and need statistics regarding population trends, average monthly incomes, tourism expenditure, consumer consumption statistics. Would you be able to help? I have emailed my country's consulate and they weren't able to help. Thanks.

ReplyDeleteWhat's with all the weather reports? Has the Dragon's lair been taken over by the Met Office? A coup d'etat by those fierce meteorologists! Run away everyone!

Alright for you, but I was flooded by Gonu last time. And you'd be amazed at the speed a 'Gonu returns' hysteria rumour will spread here.
And the pictures are pretty.
And clouds in Muscat are not common. Everybody I met was remarking upon them.
Not another Gonu for us, but for the poor Yemeni bastards it was!!

ReplyDeleteHaha I know I know, only joking. I did actually have to suffer through Gonu last year ('suffer' is a bit of an overstatement - I live in MQ which was spared much of the carnage), along with the non-stop rumours that kept following.
